In 2003, LogMeIn was a 10-person start-up looking to disrupt the market for remote access – the ability to access one computer from another via the Internet. At the time, incumbent vendors had a cozy little business of a few thousand paying customers. LogMeIn decided to pioneer the “freemium” model and give away its core product for free.
Market, meet disruption.
LogMeIn was looking for a PR firm that could help it spread the freemium message while growing product sales and company awareness. Management also wanted a firm that could grow with the company as a strategic partner.
Baker Communications Group has been LogMeIn’s U.S. agency of record since the company was founded. We helped establish its communications framework while getting the word out about its incredibly useful products. Since day one, strategic media and analyst relations was critical to building the company’s business and it is a role we continue to this day. We also work with management to craft and deliver the messages that resonate with stakeholders including customers, partners, shareholders and employees.
In 2009, LogMeIn went public in an extremely successful IPO for the company, its initial investors and public shareholders alike. Today the company has sales of $166 million (2013) and millions of customers worldwide. From its start as a remote access company, LogMeIn has expanded its product offerings to include cloud-based services that provide IT support and management, storage & file sync, online meetings & collaboration and a platform for the next big wave in IT: the Internet of Things.
Through it all, Baker Communications Group has been a strategic partner in helping LogMeIn grow its business by effectively communicating the value, the ease-of-use and the utility of its market-leading products.
